wedding chapel houston
Wedding chapels offer a sense of tradition without the constraints and formality of a church. The Annex has one of the most beautiful wedding chapels in Houston – it is timeless and sleek but still allows for you to add a touch of your own personality and style. Our wedding chapel is, by far, the most admired space at the venue.
The most popular features of the wedding chapel are the 12ft. antique stained-glass windows. They were handmade in the 1800s and were hanging in a church until the family that owned the property tore the church down. They kept the stained-glass windows, and we acquired three of them for the wedding chapel at our venue.
The windows were so old that they could not be used as real windows, so we backlit them. We can keep the lights on bright, which gives off a sense of sanctity, like a traditional wedding chapel – or we can dim the lights down, which gives the windows a totally different, shabby chic feel! Whatever your style, the stained-glass windows make for the perfect backdrop in the wedding chapel. It is important to note, too, that the windows have a gorgeous fleur de lis pattern with non-denominational symbols at the top.
The other features of the wedding chapel include gorgeous chandeliers, black Chiavari chairs, and giant doors that make for a perfect grand entrance.
Most wedding venues in Houston do not feature a wedding chapel, as they either only have space for the reception, or ceremonies are held outside, or the same building serves as both the ceremony and reception space. However, having to flip a room is not ideal. Also, outdoor ceremonies in Houston, Texas can be ruined if the weather does not cooperate.
As one of the only venues that has an onsite wedding chapel in Houston, The Annex is a diamond in the rough. It’s perfect for couples who want a wedding that has a sense of tradition but can still bring in their own vibe & style. The wedding chapel truly doesn’t need much – no need for heavy florals or big arches – the wedding chapel is elegant and sleek all on its own. And the indoor reception hall is just a few feet away, so no need to have guests drive to a different location.
The Annex is located just north of Houston, about an hour from downtown Houston, the George Bush Intercontinental Airport, or the Galleria. It’s even closer for people living in the Greater Houston area, such as The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe, Magnolia, Montgomery, Waller, Tomball, and Cypress.
To get to The Annex from downtown Houston, you would take I-45 or 290. As you get closer to The Annex, you forget you’re even in Texas! The country road leading up to the wedding chapel is lined with giant trees whose branches come together to create an arch over the road. The area is very peaceful and serene. As an added feature, we also have onsite lodging accommodations for people who live in Houston and don’t want to drive back home after the wedding. Our onsite lodging is perfect for your family or close friends or colleagues; we can sleep up to 18 guests.
Overall, the wedding chapel at The Annex is the perfect alternative to having a church wedding!
